First-time buyers looking for a home in Northampton may find they end up being £500 better off each month.

On selected plots at Miller's Upton Green development, first-time buyers will receive £500 a month for the first year to help with mortgage payments.

Steve Garton, area sales manager, said: "The mortgage subsidy offer will be of interest to all purchasers as it will reduce mortgage repayments by £500 a month, or £6,000 a year.

"[This] is an impressive saving and can be used to soften the blow of meeting monthly repayments."

Upton Green, where prices start at £159,950, is on the outskirts of Northampton, three miles away from the town centre.

The homes are designed to achieve both the highest National Home Energy Rating for energy usage and the top Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method score for environmental performance.

Locally-sourced environmentally-friendly building materials were used in the making of the homes and many of the houses boast solar technology.
