A romantic weekend in Paris with his wife in the 1980's is one of Mr Stokes favourite memories and now, thanks to leading retirement developer, McCarthy & Stone, the retired couple from Ferndown are re-creating their magical trip to the French capital.

Mr Stokes was one of the many people who entered McCarthy & Stone's Memory Lane competition, offering one lucky person the chance to have a special memory recreated for them. Mr Stokes' heart warming story of a special weekend away in Paris with his wife back in the 1980's touched the hearts of the judging panel and the developer wanted the couple to re-live their happy memory.

Colin Stokes, who has been married to his wife Joan for over 57 years, was absolutely thrilled to have won. "When we received the phone call to say we had won the competition, I couldn't believe it. My wife and I have had a wonderful marriage and I wanted to say thank you to her for the last 62 years. We had an absolutely fantastic time in Paris last time we went and we are really looking forward to visiting the city again."

Aileen King, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, commented: "Everything we do is built around a belief that later life can be rich, rewarding and fulfilling, which is why we launched this competition. We received an overwhelming number of entries with many detailing some wonderful memories. However, Mr Stokes' submission stood out from the rest and we are really pleased to be able to offer him another chance to visit the romantic city of Paris with his wife."

Colin and Joan are planning to take their break early next year and are looking forward to taking in many of the wonderful sites the city has to offer.

With over 35 years experience, McCarthy & Stone has become Britain's leading provider of retirement apartments, having built more than 45,000 apartments in 1,000 different schemes.

The developer is currently selling one bedroom apartments at its Assisted Living development, Cherrett Court in Ferndown with prices starting from £243,950.
