Lucky pupils from Hylands Primary School left the classroom behind recently to visit Charles Church site Edwin Mews, as a practical addition to their House and Homes history topic.
Taking to the development for a closer look, sixty year one pupils were given the opportunity to examine the house styles and materials as an example of how properties have changed over time.
The children were particularly taken with seeing the men work safely wearing hard hats, high vis jackets and safety gloves, and were able to identify the different types of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses built on the site.
Mrs Pauline Siddons, a teacher at the school, commented: "The walk around was a complete success in showing the children examples of contemporary housing styles, and how the workmen keep themselves safe on-site.
Mrs Evelyn Hollingbery, another member of staff, said "It was also interesting to see the PV panels on some properties and talk to the children about how they generate electricity into the home from day light."
Delighted by the group's enthusiasm, sales director for Charles Church Essex, Norman Sharpe, said: "It was lovely to have Hylands Primary School students on site as we are always keen to build relationships with the local community in which our developments are located.
"We hope they found the visit interesting and that it will be a valuable addition to their usual day to day schooling."
