David Wilson Yorkshire West has stepped in to support a young Yorkshire sportsman in his bid to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Leeds-born Rich Stead has been selected to represent Team GB in Bobsleigh, and a £250 donation from the developer is supporting his travel and kit needs through this winter's training and cup season.
Rich studied at Loughborough University and gained an MSc in Exercise Physiology with intentions of a career in sport science, before selection through a talent identification intiative saw him picked out for his sporting potential to make a British Skeleton athlete. After being selected from thousands and transferring from one winter sport to another, he has progressed in just months to become one of Team GB Bobsleigh's most promising young talents and his earmark for 2018 has been brought forward with a view to competing for a place in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
A grueling schedule means Rich is currently travelling all over the globe but he has brought home his first medal from the 2-man America's cup race in Calgary, where Great Britain clocked up an impressive time and made a great bid for future success.
Rich said: "This is a really exciting time for me and our squad and we welcome the support of companies like David Wilson who can help with kit, travel or any other assistance. As self-funded athletes representing Great Britain we aim to provide strong competition against the other nations and this is the sort of backing that can really make the difference."
