Barratt is celebrating the release of The Hobbit by unveiling a distinctive dragon sculpture made from oak at The Meads in Frampton Cotterell.

The feature film is already enthralling children and adults alike following its release this month - and the new sculpture is designed to do just the same at the popular development.

"We wanted a real talking point - something extra for those buying new homes here at The Meads," said Barratt sales director, Andrea Pilgrim. "So we asked Andy O'Neill from Wild Wood Carving to come up with a unique design. And we are all delighted with the result."

Using natural materials that would otherwise be discarded, Andy designs and carves sculptures with the potential to last for decades.

"I remember reading The Hobbit as a child and the dragon always stood out for me," said Andy. "I loved the idea of creating something that children could relate to after seeing the film. So here it is at The Meads, in all its glory. I'm very pleased with it and hope it continues to enrapture for many years to come."
