First-time buyers struggling to get on the property ladder in Ashford, Kent, could join forces with a friend and buy a property together, one expert has said.
Caron Hutchins, sales manager for Redrow Homes, said that mortgage sharing is becoming increasingly popular and she recommended Ashford homeseekers consider The Paddocks at De Montfort Park.
This development comprises three-bedroom houses with master bedroom en-suite facilities, as well as a main bathroom downstairs, "which makes them ideal for professionals sharing".
Ms Hutchins said: "A brand new home is great for first-time buyers as it comes complete with a ten-year Buildmark warranty and requires [...] none of the renovation or repair that goes with buying an older, run-down terrace.
"New homes also tend to be more energy efficient than their second hand counterparts which makes for fewer arguments over the heating bills."

Ashford is situated at junctions 9 and 10 of the M20 to London, Folkestone and Maidstone. The town also has links with the Channel Tunnel and serves Eurostar trains to London, Paris and Lille.
