Gladedale is honouring local history in County Durham by naming its new development Spiro Court after Consett Iron Works as it opens a new showhome this weekend.

Located in the village of Consett, the development takes its name from the Spirocon department at the local iron works which made spiral pipes.

Spiro Court comprises two and three-bedroom semi-detached new homes and three and four-bedroom detached houses.

Commenting on the new showhome, a spokesman for Gladedale said it features a spacious and fully-fitted kitchen and lounge with a bay window.

"The three bedrooms are located on the upper floor with the master bedroom including an ensuite shower room," he added.

Prices at Spiro Court start at £107,995 (prices correct at time of publication).

Gladedale recently announced that Spiro Court homebuyers will benefit from £2,000 towards their heat and fuel bills for the first year.
