Turkey is an emerging market with a "very strong" economy that is a prime target for overseas property investors, according to Spot Blue.

While the credit crunch is hitting many European countries, Turkey is providing foreign investors with the opportunity to "make some money".

This is the view of Julian Walker, managing director of the property agent.

"If you look at the stats of tourism through Turkey, there is quite an aggressively growing curve, so more and more people going to Turkey on holiday," he stated.

Turkey is a popular tourist destination partly because it is well served by low cost airlines, he added.

He was speaking after Turkey's president, Abdullah Gul, approved a law allowing foreign nationals to purchase real estate in Turkey.

"The law change affects potentially some of the much larger investments in Turkey rather than day-to-day type investors," Mr Walker remarked.

According to Easier Property, Turkey is a popular property investment location because a number of lenders in the country now offer mortgages to non-residents.
