David Bexon, Managing Director of SmartNewHomes.com, comments on the Government’s £13m affordable housing deal – the first to go through the new National Clearing House – allowing Bloor Homes to pass on 335 unsold homes for use as affordable housing: “It is encouraging to see this Government–backed initiative registering a positive result for Bloor Homes, and I hope that it will act as a catalyst to alleviate some of the pressure currently weighing heavily on many UK home builders. “The mortgage logjam has left many developers with excess stock that would have otherwise been sold on the private market, and the Government’s offer to buy unsold homes for use as affordable housing will come as a welcome reprieve. “Providing that more deals of this nature are formed over the coming months, it should help improve the financial strain on developers, while facilitating the quicker delivery of much needed affordable housing to those who may otherwise have faced a lengthy wait in the current market."
