Barratt has promised to top the recent pledge by British Gas to reduce bills by ten per cent at some of its developments in Nottinghamshire by offering a 100 per cent reduction.

The builder stated that anyone buying homes in such developments will have their entire gas bill met by the firm for the next 18 months, as well as their electricity, water and council tax payments over the same period.

Sales director at Barratt Homes North Midlands James Poynor commented: "You could have literally thousands of pounds more to spend for the next year and a half, by which time economists think the worst of the downturn will have passed."

The offer covers the Willows development in Aspley, Kings Lodge in Chilwell, Worksop's Celtic Village and Hallam Fields at Ilkeston in Derbyshire.

Last week Barratt West Midlands announced it was offering the same deal for developments in the Black Country in Netherton, Wednesbury, Wolverhampton and Brierley Hill.
