British holidaymakers continue to travel to countries such as Spain, it has been observed.

According to easyJet, areas including Malaga and Alicante remain popular with those looking to get away, news that may be of interest to those investing in property in the country.

Paul Simmons, UK regional general manager for the airline, explained that "traditional" hotspots continue to experience demand despite the decline in the pound against the euro.

In addition, city breaks are also faring well, as he remarked: "There is a deliberate strategy we've been having for a number of years now to connect to the major capitals in Europe and the major cities in Europe as well as going abroad for beach type destinations."

New routes from London Gatwick to a number of destinations were recently announced by easyJet.

Flights to Vienna, Munich, Bodrum and Zurich are all due to begin in April of this year, the airline revealed.
