Barratt Homes has reported a strong performance for the first three months of the year, with demand for its new-build properties in Scotland particularly high.
Coming as Barratt East Scotland works on a number of new developments across sites including Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Oldmeldrum and Ellon, the company's operations director David Scott has revealed that confidence is returning to the market, with a rise in demand from prospective first-time buyers particularly welcome.
"An increasing number of people also appear to have accepted that they need to be more realistic about the value of their existing home and this, in turn, could make moving house a lot more affordable as people discover the real cost of property," he added.
At the same time, the company revealed that an increase in sales over the first quarter of 2009 has helped it to release a number of new properties onto the market, including those on a new waterside development in Aberdeen.
Earlier this month, Barratt also reported that demand for its new homes in the south of Wales has also risen markedly over recent weeks, with developments within commutable distance of Cardiff currently among the most popular with buyers.
