People in rented properties are being invited to own a home of their own in Essex.

Persimmon Homes believes the government's Homebuy Direct scheme can encourage people on to the property ladder.

"Competitive house prices coupled with tailored deals to get househunters on the move and an interest rate at its lowest in its 315-year history, means it's a buyers' market," states Neil Sykes, sales director for Persimmon Homes Essex.

He adds that some people's rent is more than the repayments of a mortgage would work out as, with potential homebuyers invited to the Bloomsbury Mews development to take a look.

Under the Homebuy Direct scheme, homebuyers can pay for 70 per cent of the purchase price, with the remaining percentage paid over a 25-year period.

It is aimed at those with lower incomes looking at getting on the housing ladder for the first time.ADNFCR-1100-ID-19143981-ADNFCR
