As first time buyers, Amy Edwards and Mathew Jenkins thought they would never be able to afford a house of her own, let alone a new build. However, thanks to George Wimpey’s range of affordable properties, the 24 year olds are now the proud owners of their own two bedroom home in Ammanford.

Mathew explains: “Amy and I had never thought about buying a new build property before because, being first time buyers, we had always assumed we would have to settle for a flat, or a house in a less desirable area. It was only after we decided to look around George Wimpey’s Dol Y Dderwen development for inspiration and talked to the sales executive on site that we realised how affordable the homes here are.”

Having rented in nearby Llandybie for three years, Amy and Mathew knew the time was right to find a home of their own and they soon fell in love with the Deddington style property at Dol Y Dderwen.

“After viewing several properties, we chose the Deddington because it was an ideal starter home within our budget plus had the two bedrooms we required. This home is also cleverly designed to really maximise the available space – so exactly what we were looking for!”

As well as finding their ideal property in the Deddington, Amy and Mathew also fell in love with Dol Y Dderwen.

Mathew continues: “We knew this development would be the perfect place to set up home because the houses aren’t built on top of one another. Each property is set out individually, with plenty of space, so we don’t feel crammed in next to our neighbours. Having space to ourselves was quite important to Amy and I so we were happy to find such a great starter home which also offers us the privacy we wanted.”

Location was another reason Amy and Mat chose to buy at Dol Y Dderwen. Nestled within a semi-rural landscape, the development is ideally located only ten minutes’ walk from the centre of town.

“Ideal if we go out on the weekend as we don’t have too far to travel home,” Mathew comments. “Dol Y Dderwen has a very close community and our neighbours have been friendly and welcoming. The sales executive and George Wimpey have also provided a great service, from start to completion and afterwards. I’d definitely recommend Dol Y Dderwen to anyone searching for a home of their own in Ammanford.”

Dol Y Dderwen is a stylish collection of two, three and four bedroom homes in the relaxed and friendly environment of Ammanford. Providing buyers with the best of both worlds, Dol Y Dderwen offers modern, stylish living in the heart of the country, coupled with everyday amenities right on the doorstep.
