A brand new event to help people across Greater Manchester to buy their own home is bringing together big name developers with houses ready to move into, lenders, and independent mortgage advisers under one roof to make the home-buying experience as simple as possible.

In the current economic climate many people are finding it more difficult to get on the property ladder so this free event, organised by the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency, will showcase new homes for sale in Greater Manchester. It will also provide people with the advice and support they need to make informed decisions about buying a home.

Fifteen top developers, four lenders, Plumlife – the HomeBuy agent – and a team of independent mortgage brokers have signed up to take part in The Key Event – the first of its kind in the country - where they will offer free advice on all aspects of home buying.

The event is being held at Urbis, close to Manchester’s Victoria Station, on June 22 between 12-7pm, and anyone interested in owning their own home should be there.

At The Key Event there will be:

  • hundreds of brand new homes for sale all over Greater Manchester
  • advice on the latest mortgage products from lenders
  • information on the Government’s HomeBuy initiative
  • options for first time buyers

Deborah McLaughlin, NW Regional Director for the HCA, said: “In the current climate it is certainly more difficult to buy a home – but it’s not impossible. It’s about knowing what is out there and what is available to whom. This event could open the right doors for first time buyers across Greater Manchester and those looking for a mortgage, and advise them on the latest options available.

“For example, HomeBuy Direct was launched by the Government in December 2008 to help first time buyers aspiring to buy their own home, aided by an equity loan which is free of charge for the first five years. Thirty five developers have already agreed to offer the HomeBuy Direct scheme.

“The Key Event - which will bring together housebuilders such as Urban Splash, banks such as Halifax, Plumlife – the HomeBuy agent - and people looking for a new home to buy - is the ideal place to get impartial advice that may help people who thought that owning a home was beyond their reach to get onto the property ladder.”
