Cementing a leading housebuilder’s confidence in the future of new homes, work has started to build 28 new properties in Oakdale, Caerphilly.

And with National House Building Council (NHBC) Seal of Excellence winner Syd James at the helm, the quality of build is sure to be ‘top notch’.

Syd won the award for the high quality standards of Redrow’s Llys Ffynnon site, which he managed last year in nearby Pontllanfraith.

The new three-acre development of 28 two, three and four homes is being built, after award-winning Redrow acquired the site of former allotments off Llwynon Lane, in Oakdale.

Highlighting Redrow’s unwavering commitment to new build homes, the development, named Sirhowy Gardens, was granted planning permission by Caerphilly County Borough Council and will have a completed value of approximately £6.6 million.

Debby Pavitt, sales director for Redrow Homes (South Wales): “In a recent trading update to the City, Redrow plc pledged to start a number of new sites and intends to focus on its historic strength of high quality family housing. Sirhowy Gardens fits the bill perfectly.

“We’re delighted to be moving forward with this scheme and are further encouraged by signs of improvement in the housing market. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said this month that strong demand from potential buyers combined with a shortage of homes for sale had helped boost the housing market in May, with enquiries from new buyers increased for the seventh month in a row. The Halifax and Nationwide have also both announced month on month house price rises in recent weeks.”

He added: “We are delighted to have started work at Oakdale and to be able to provide homebuyers in South Wales with a range of quality built homes with high specification interiors.

The first homes at Sirhowy Gardens will go on sale in September this year but Redrow is already building a database of prospective purchasers. To register interest or find out more call 0845 676 0500 or visit www.redrow.co.uk.
