Housing minister John Healey has announced that ten stalled housing schemes will receive the first wave of government cash to get the building of 740 homes back on track.
The schemes will receive £10 million as part of the PM's Housing Pledge through the Kickstart programme.
Five of the schemes are Persimmon projects and three Barratt. The minister stressed that the government was looking at developers who have etstablished apprentice schemes, which both Persimmon and Barratt do.
Homes and Communities Agency ceo Sir Bob Kerslake said: "This is just the start - we'll now be working through all the bids with the aim of finalising all the allocations for this first round in the next two months."
John Healey and Sir Bob Kerslake will both be addressing the industry at this year's Housing Market Intelligence conference.
