Taylor Wimpey site manager Jim MacKay is celebrating after scooping a top UK building industry award for his work at the Sandringham development in Ruislip, Middlesex.
Jim collected a ‘Pride in the Job’ Quality Award in this year’s prestigious National House-Building Council (NHBC) competition.
The awards recognise site managers who consistently demonstrate outstanding commitment to the building of high-quality new homes – and ensure the smooth and safe running of developments.
Jim, who started his career on building sites as a trainee back in 1962, says the key to doing such a good job is encouraging a hardworking team.
“Taylor Wimpey is a very good company to work for, and over the years I’ve been a site manager in various UK locations, including Manchester, Wales, Belfast and Liverpool.”
Tim Betts, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West London, comments: “Jim’s selection by independent judges is testament to the enthusiasm he has for doing a good job every single day, and encouraging each member of his team to feel the same.
“He is well-deserving of the Quality Award thanks to his organisation and management skills, combined with engendering his team with a spirit of pride in building the highest quality new homes.”
Achieving a Quality Award is no mean feat. Site managers undergo a stringent selection process with judges visiting developments at key stages of the construction process to assess them on all aspects of home building.
Each of the 400 winners is chosen from more than 18,000 NHBC registered housebuilders who run sites across the country – making the Quality Award a highly respected and much-sought after accolade in the house building industry.
This year Taylor Wimpey regions throughout the UK, which includes George Wimpey developments like Sandringham, and Bryant Homes developments, fielded a record 70 ‘Pride in the Job’ Quality Award-winners.
All the winners now go forward to compete in the next round for a Top 100 Seal of Excellence Award and a Regional Award, before the UK’s four Supreme Award winners are announced at a gala ceremony in January 2010.
New homes at Sandringham are priced from £209,995 and include one and two-bedroom apartments with balconies to selected plots, and a choice of family-size three and four-bedroom houses designed in the ‘Arts and Crafts’ architectural style.
The development is ideally located within 19 acres of landscaped grounds between Ruislip and Eastcote High Street, with a range of high quality shops, pubs, restaurants and bars within walking distance.
