Design a Garden competition winner Megan Beardsley saw her dream become a reality at the launch of the brand new showhomes at Taylor Wimpey’s Briars Chase development in Ilkeston.
The eight-year-old pupil from Ilkeston took part in the housebuilder’s special contest to draw an inspirational look for the new ‘Clevedon’ showhome garden – and by impressing the judges, lucky Megan won £100 worth of gift vouchers and the honour of opening her design to the public.
Kelly French, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Megan’s brilliant drawing has blossomed into a beautiful landscaped look for one of the new show gardens at Briars Chase, the perfect complement to the stylish decor and furnishings that we have just unveiled inside the four-bedroom ‘Clevedon’ showhome.
“As well as boasting a superb raised vegetable plot, a fun water feature and a gorgeous arbour for climbing plants, the garden also has an amazing playhouse, which we have named ‘Megan’s House’ in honour of our star designer!
“We would like to thank everyone who sent us so many fabulous entries to our Design a Garden competition, and special congratulations go to Megan and our runners-up, 13-year-old Elisha Morley who won second prize, and eight-year-old Jenna Moore who came third.”
Dozens of househunters turned up to see the brand new showhomes and gardens over the launch weekend at Briars Chase on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October.
The special event gave visitors the chance to look around the stunning four-bedroom ‘Clevedon’ home, decorated in warm caramel and chocolate tones, and the delightful three-bedroom ‘Denby’, fresh and vibrant with bright blues and greens against a sparkling white backdrop.
Those impressed by the space and style of the showhomes can now secure their choice of new home from the range of two-bedroom coach houses and two, three and four-bedroom houses currently available, starting from just £124,995 and including the spacious four-bedroom ‘Clevedon’ priced from only £152,995.
Featuring an amazing kitchen/dining room, perfect for family meals or entertaining and with French doors to the garden, the ground floor of the ‘Clevedon’ is completed by a guest cloakroom and an integral garage which has a handy door from the entrance hallway.
Upstairs, the landing leads to a magnificent first-floor lounge with an attractive Juliet balcony overlooking the garden, a further cloakroom and a well-proportioned bedroom.
The top floor completes this fabulous family home with a master bedroom benefiting from an en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms and a main bathroom.
All new homes at Briars Chase enjoy a high standard specification including a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood, double glazing and central heating.
For those reserving their new home now, ready for a 2010 move, George Wimpey provides a range of special incentives on selected properties for first-time buyers and those with a home to sell.
For example, its easymover scheme enables customers with a property to sell to reserve their new home now and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder finds a buyer for their current property – guaranteeing 100% of the market value – and pays the estate agents’ fees.
With easymover taking an average of just 17 days to sell a property, homebuyers with an existing home are likely to achieve a sale around four times faster than the national average.
Situated within easy reach of the centre of Ilkeston, Briars Chase enjoys an excellent location close to a good selection of restaurants, shops, pubs and the Scala cinema, and just a short hop from Nottingham and Derby.
Briars Chase is also close to numerous infant, junior and secondary schools with Granby Junior School, Chaucer Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Bennerley School and Ilkeston Secondary School all less than a mile away.
For commuters, the A52 gives easy access to Nottingham and Derby, while the M1 provides excellent links to the North and South.
Langley Mill railway station is less than four miles away, providing regular services to Nottingham in just 20 minutes and Sheffield in 45 minutes.
