Samantha Jones (28) and partner Tom Brotherton (31) are now the proud (and relieved!) owners of a three bedroom detached home at Fallowfields in picturesque Huntington village on the edge of the Chase, but only after Taylor Wimpey enabled them to trade in Tom’s old home for a brand new one.

‘Part Exchange’ removes the hardest part of moving – relying on others – and it guarantees the buyer a fair price, no worries over a moving date for the existing property, being let down by banks and solicitors, or even buyers pulling out. Subject to survey, Taylor Wimpey settle on a price for your old house and stick to it, along with a realistic completion date, so there’s no unpredictable chain to hold things up.

Sam explains: “It’s been an absolute lifesaver and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without Taylor Wimpey’s help and their brilliant Part Exchange scheme. After undertaking a long distance relationship for a few years (me in Walsall and Tom in Crewe) we decided to put some roots down together some 18 months ago, but my house only sold after a year and Tom’s just wasn’t budging. We looked at renting it out first; then with the current economic climate, the need for a bigger deposit, tougher mortgage criteria and higher interest rates, meant buying together was never going to stack up financially for us. Then we happened upon Fallowfields (ideally placed between both our places of work) and couldn’t believe our luck when Taylor Wimpey effectively bought Tom’s old house from us.”

Sales manager Michelle Davies adds: “We have probably the biggest Part Exchange budget of all the major housebuilders, so I urge anyone whose ability to purchase is determined by the sale of another property to come and talk to us – as we can quickly help to get a move on. We can even accommodate ‘chainbreaker’ deals whereby we step in and purchase another property further down the chain if things fall through. This stops it getting held up, or even totally grinding to a halt, and our customers tell us it provides extra peace of mind and takes all the stress away."

Apart from its proximity to Cannock Chase, Fallowfields offers tree-lined avenues, lots of established, mature trees, plus a host of natural, green areas within its boundaries - because it falls in restricted green belt! And Huntington itself has recently benefited from investment and regeneration, while it’s very well connected too – the main A34 from Cannock to Stafford runs through the village and the M6 and Toll Road is just a few minutes drive away. 

Sam adds: “It’s already got everything we need right on the doorstep and there are lots more infrastructure improvements to come, so we feel like we’ve got in at just the right time. Plus, we’re real converts to new build, having both owned older period properties before, We used to think new homes were a bit bland and characterless, but we wouldn’t do it any other way now. You get a blank canvas to work with, rather than expensive renovations and DIY disasters to correct, and we’ve really enjoyed watching our new home being built. We’ve been able to specify our own choice of carpets, appliances and a host of designer extras, etc, so that it was just as we wanted it from day one. 

“Site manager Mick Wale has been very accommodating along the way and sales executive Linda Wainwright is a real professional. She doesn’t give you false promises and sales spin, but just rolls her sleeves up and makes things happen, which I find very refreshing. Whilst our solicitor was dragging his heels, it was Linda who kept things on track and on time as we neared completion and exchange.” 

Fallowfields comprises 85 new homes of distinction made up of three/four bedroom townhouses and three/five bed semi and detached homes – all with garage. Current availability includes three bedroom semi detached homes from just £169,995, four bedroom townhouses from only £177,995 and five bedroom detached executive homes from as little as £274,995.
