McCarthy & Stone has this month revealed the name, and the first artist’s impression, for its exciting new Assisted Living retirement development in Ferndown.
The new development will be called Cherrett Court, named after Mr. Cherrett*, who lived on the first house built on the plot of land in the early 1900s.
The artist’s impression of Cherrett Court illustrates how the development, which will comprise of 46 one and two bedroom Assisted Living apartments, will look from Ringwood Road.
Cherrett Court will extend the developer’s retirement living offering to the over 70s by providing residents who require additional daily assistance with the necessary support to enable them to live in their home for longer, as their needs change, or avoid residential care altogether.
As standard, each McCarthy & Stone apartment includes features such as 24 hour emergency Careline call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, easy grip lever taps, double glazing, energy efficient heating, CCTV and door entry systems and a lift to all floors. There is also a residents’ lounge, guest suite and laundry room at each development.
In addition to all of the standard features, the Assisted Living apartments at Cherret Court will be on average 10 per cent larger to allow for wheelchair access and will benefit from level access wardrobes, a level access shower and separate bath with grab rails, slip resistant vinyl flooring and an electrically operated kitchen window. An estates manager, 24 hour on-site staff and waitress service restaurant will also be available.
Furthermore, residents will be able to benefit from an hour of domestic assistance each week as part of their service charge, whether that’s help with chores or getting the weekly shop in, and personal care assistance can also be organised for those individuals who require it, at an additional cost.
