Youngsters at a school in Bedfordshire are set to benefit from brand new computer equipment – thanks to a generous donation from George Wimpey.
The leading housebuilder has handed over £250 to sponsor a fundraising ball hosted by St Mary’s VC Lower School in Stotfold.
The black-tie event in October was held to raise money for the revamp of the school’s ICT suite – and George Wimpey’s cash gift has taken a big chunk out of its fundraising target.
St Mary’s headteacher Colin Phelps says: “All the proceeds of our autumn ball are going towards the replacement of our computers, and this fantastic donation has been a tremendous help.
“The money is going directly towards helping the children’s learning and we really value George Wimpey’s support.”
The housebuilder has just unveiled the latest phase of Greenacres – its popular development of apartments, starter homes and family homes in Stotfold.
Steve Rolt, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to help the school out. Fostering good community relations is a big priority for us and we’re always pleased to be able to give something back when we can.”
The cash contribution is the second time George Wimpey has stepped in to assist St Mary’s. The housebuilder also donated a hot air balloon ride for two for a prize draw at the school’s summer ball in 2007.
