Buyers are tasting city living at its best at the iconic Lemonade Building in Barking Central, where the first seven floors are now build-complete.

The Lemonade Building is the fourth and final phase of Redrow’s innovative Barking Central scheme.

First time buyer Wendy Wang was among the first to move into the stylish contemporary apartments, built near the site of the former R Whites Lemonade factory. Having rented on an earlier phase, she witnessed the transformation of the area before buying her own home.

“I think buying at Barking Central is a great investment; this area of East London –Stratford, West Ham and Barking – has got great potential for price growth and I’ve got in at a low entry point while regeneration is still in full flow,” Wendy commented.

The Lemonade Building comprises 136 stylishly designed, easy to maintain and energy efficient apartments over 17 floors.

Mary Timlin, sales director for Redrow Homes, said: “The fact that seven floors of The Lemonade Building are now build-complete and residents have begun moving in is yet a further milestone in the success story that is Barking Central.

“In total Redrow has created more than 500 residential apartments here, as well as prime retail space, a new state of the art library and lifelong learning centre, a hotel and the unique feature of a specially created arboretum planted with 40 mature trees.”

The venture is just 20 minutes by train from Canary Wharf and 15 minutes from Fenchurch Street.

With the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme now extended to selected apartments at the Lemonade Building, buyers stepping onto the property ladder can get the new home they’ve always dreamed of at a price they can afford.

Under HomeBuy Direct eligible home owners can take out an equity loan for up to 30% of the purchase price on selected Redrow properties at the popular development, making home ownership cheaper and easier to achieve.

Mary explained: “The equity loan is jointly funded by the Homes and Community Agency and Redrow. Crucially, it’s interest-free for the first five years.”

One-bedroom apartments are currently available from £143,000 so, with a 30% equity loan through HomeBuy Direct, purchasers could find themselves catapulted onto the property ladder for an initial outlay of just £100,100. There are also some two-bedroom designs.

And because the apartments are brand new they won’t need expensive repairs or renovations, unlike some older properties.

“I’m a busy professional and at this stage of my life I don’t want to be worrying about decorating or refurbishing a property,” said Wendy. “I think most young professionals like me would prefer a new property to old, everything is clean, shiny and new; you can just move in and get on with your life. In addition, it is safe and convenient because it has 12 hours of concierge services each day to sign for post, etc.

“The properties at Barking Central are very modern and enjoy a high specification, there’s also outdoor space, landscaping and some nice sunny aspects.”

Two-bedroom apartments enjoy the luxury of en-suite to master bedroom and all properties have a balcony for that all-important outdoor space.

Two stunning show apartments on the 12th floor, with panoramic views of the city, give potential buyers an insight into city living at its best.
