A new retirement development in East Grinstead could be constructed if building plans are approved by the local authority.
Tandridge District Council has been sent proposals to transform Charters Towers, located just off Felcourt Road, into a retirement community.
Development firm Retirement Village is now planning to convert the Edwardian manor house into a facility for the elderly.
Plans include building a restaurant, bar, doctor's room, library and treatment suite.
Jon Gooding, chief executive of Retirement Village, said: "The provision of extra care accommodation we are proposing would meet a need within the area which extensive consultation has identified."
He added: "The overall response to our plans from people we have engaged with has been positive and we are convinced our plans will provide the kind of development any community would be proud to embrace."
Currently, the site hosts the Sabrewatch Security firm and was previously the location of Bush Davies Ballet School.
