Residents and visitors at McCarthy & Stone’s new Amelia Court development in Worthing received the VIP treatment this weekend when TV host and guest of honour Fred Dinenage officially opened the Assisted Living scheme.
More than 60 people attended the event, which kicked off with a champagne reception followed by a welcome and introduction from Mike French, managing director for McCarthy & Stone South East. Local personality Fred Dinenage was then invited to ‘do the honours’, cutting the ribbon to officially declare Amelia Court open.
Mike French comments: “We are delighted Fred could take time out of his busy schedule to come along to support the launch and open Amelia Court. We expect Amelia Court to build on the success of our Retirement Living development, Highfield Court, to extend our offering to retirees in Worthing.
“The show complex, with a fully furnished show apartment, is now open and we welcome anyone interested in finding out more to come and see us and have a look around!”
While Retirement Living developments, such as Highfield Court, have been designed for independent living, Assisted Living at Amelia Court provides additional facilities and support services to those residents who require it.
Importantly, these support services are flexible and can be tailored to meet changing needs of residents on either a short or longer term basis. Assisted Living can avoid the need to ever consider more formal care alternatives and importantly, residents retain home ownership.
Amelia Court comprises 65 one and two bedroom Assisted Living apartments. All apartments are fully wheelchair accessible and benefit from level access wardrobes, a level access shower and separate bath with grab rails, slip resistant vinyl flooring and an electrically operated kitchen window. An estates manager, 24 hour on-site staff and emergency call points and waitress service restaurant offering a midday meal every day of the year are also available.
Furthermore, residents benefit from an hour of domestic assistance each week as part of their service charge and personal care assistance can also be organised for those individuals who require it, at an additional cost.
