Barratt wins Nuneaton new-build deal

Barratt Homes has been selected as the developer of a multi-million pound redevelopment project in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

The £125 million overhaul of the deprived Camp Hill estate involves the erection of 844 new homes on a large rising gradient.

Barratt said the new homes will be environmentally sustainable and will source materials and labour from the local area.

Peter Murray, director of regeneration agency English Partnerships, said: "This is an important moment in the evolution of Camp Hill.

"It was critical that a developer of the stature and experience of Barratt should take it forward."

It is expected that Barratt will start work on the Camp Hill project sometime next year and the developer has said it is looking forward to working on a challenging site.

The building scheme is part of a wider initiative called Pride in Camp Hill, which aims to rejuvenate the area, following a period of declining employment and deteriorating conditions.
