Surrey retirement homes 'sensitively designed'Surrey retirement homes 'sensitively designed'
Retirees in Surrey who are looking to downsize are finding an "idea solution", according to one developer.
Linden Homes has said its Ashcroft Place development in Leatherhead has been designed as a regular apartment scheme but has on-hand support should residents require any help.
One customer told Linden that they were relieved that Ashcroft Place "did not feel anything like a nursing home or a hotel" but was independent and secure.
Paul Cooper, managing director, said: "Ashcroft Place is a sensitively designed development that has proved extremely popular with people looking to downsize in retirement.
"Although the age restriction is limited to the over-65s, it is very much a retirement community as opposed to a nursing home."
Linen is also helping downsizers move into a new home at the Ashcroft Place development by offering to manage the sale of the old property.
Leatherhead comprises several communities and is made up of the town centre and the villages of Ashtead, Fetcham and Bookham.
The High Street is largely traffic-free and was designed to provide easy access for those who have disabilities.
