Ancoats a 'viable location' for investors

Ancoats, on the east side of the city, has sheds its image of dereliction and is now a 50-acre conservation area that has been dramatically changed thanks to investment in housing and infrastructure.

One development is City Loft's Milliners Wharf, which comprises more than 260 one, two and three-bedroom apartments. Situated by Ashton Canal, prices range between £150,000 and £257,500.

According to City Lofts, Milliner's Wharf "exemplifies all that is best about a historic area of the city that is benefiting from substantial and rapid regeneration".

Andy Hurst, sales and marketing director, told the Telegraph that the property market in Ancoats and east Manchester is "starting to gather pace".

"Investors can see that prices are still lower than elsewhere but the infra-structure for real growth is in place," he added.

City Lofts has also built one and two-bedroom waterside apartments in west Manchester's Salford Quays and prices start from £161,000.
