Selected plots at Miller Homes' eco-friendly Upton Green development in Upton, Northampton, have been incentivised with a mortgage offer, whereby Miller pays £500 a month in mortgage costs for a year.

And for those already on the property ladder, the developer has come up with a part-exchange offer.

Steve Garton, area sales manager, said the mortgage offer, which amounts to £6,000 a year "is an impressive saving and can be used to soften the blow of meeting monthly repayments".

He added: "The part-exchange scheme will be of interest to purchasers who are looking to move up the property ladder as Miller will buy their house for them."

Miller will also market the current property, he explained.

Many of the homes are fitted with solar and voltaic technology and all properties have their own rainwater harvesting systems. This means that water can be reused for washing machines and toilets, thereby helping the environment.

In addition, thermal and acoustic insulation in the Upton Green homes exceed building regulation requirements by around 50 per cent.
