North-east househunters urged to make festive move

Househunters in the north-east of England are being encouraged to consider buying a home this Christmas.

According to Barratt, the Christmas season is a good time to buy a new home as sales offices and showhomes are not particularly busy

As an incentive, Barratt is offering a 100 per cent part-exchange on an existing property and up to £500 a month for the first year.

Another option is the Dream Start package, whereby first-time buyers purchase their new home for 75 per cent of the asking price and pay the remaining amount gradually over the next decade.

"Barratt has an excellent range of properties at locations throughout the north-east which will be open over part of the festive period," a spokesperson said.

The end of the year is the busiest time when it comes to moving house, according to Alliance & Leicester, which has discovered that 22 per cent of all moves take place during October, November and December.
