Horwich heritage homes 'going well'

A heritage site in Horwich, Bolton that is being restored in conjunction with the creation of new homes is going well, according to Redrow.

Arcon Village, which is described by the housebuilder as a "hidden oasis", has its origins in an 18th century bleach works.

Each stone-built property is being restored and the village will eventually comprises 140 bespoke apartments, mews-style cottages and townhouses.

Simon Bennett, Redrow marketing director, said: "The beauty of a renovation project is that purchasers can enjoy all the benefits of a brand new home [...] as well as the original period features that give an older property its character."

Once completed, each home - which will boast panoramic views of the West Pennines - will come with a ten-year Buildmark warranty.

Redrow has worked alongside the University of Manchester's Archaeological unit to convert the Arcon Village buildings.

The Horwich bleach works, owned by the Ridgeway family, closed in 1933 and was taken over by Arcon Engineering, which lends its name to the development.
