Prospect looks forward to BBC relocation to Salford

Property firm Prospect's prediction that estate agents are expecting an influx of TV personalities looking for a place to live in Manchester has become one step closer to reality.

The BBC has promised to spend millions of pounds helping staff transfer from London to Manchester as the corporation prepares for the relocation of several departments to the new mediacity:uk site at Salford Quays.

Up to £16.5 million will be spent by the BBC to assist with the purchasing of homes for 1,500 employees, according to reports.

A spokesman for the BBC said: "We think this passes the value for money test. We would be living in another land if we thought people would move at their own expense."

Prospect currently has a new development of 180 one and two-bedroom apartments at Salford Quays.

The development is known as Broadway and is situated right at heart of the Manchester waterfront. Prices start at £139,000.
