Turkey 'hotspot for summer homes'Turkey 'hotspot for summer homes'
UK property investors and holidaymakers are increasingly looking to Turkey for summer homes and relocation prospects, according to a report.
Todayszaman.com said there were good reasons for people increasingly looking to the country, with price and location being key criteria.
It cited figures from the Turkish Land Registry Directorate, that show half of real estate purchase by foreigners are around Istanbul and Antalya
The website also said the value of properties bought by foreigners was around $10 billion (about £5 billion) between 2003 and 2007 and suggested people did not have to be wealthy to be able to afford to buy a property there.
"Every year property prices have been rising but prices for buying property in Turkey are still considerably lower than buying property for sale in other major tourist areas such as Spain and France," it cited www.realestateinturkey.com as saying.
Nirvana International reported on a Holiday Lettings survey, which named Turkey as seventh in the top ten countries for holiday homes.
