Barratt says it has a "superb offering" for first time buyers who are looking for affordable apartments in Cardiff.

The homebuilder's iPads start at £76,495 (correct at time of publication) and come with a shared equity scheme that requires buyers to secure a mortgage for 85 per cent of the price.

Barratt finances the outstanding 15 per cent for up to a decade. This means that for an iPad priced at £89,995, a first time buyer can pick one up for £76,495.

Sales director Sandra Dixon said: "Buyers still own 100 per cent of the home and it's an excellent scheme to make these fantastic homes affordable."

She went on to say that the iPads are "hugely popular" and that the locations in Cardiff Bay and at Llanishen offer buyers a "great choice".

According to the latest set of figures from the Land Registry, the average price of a home in Cardiff is £152,173.
