Redrow is urging would-be first home owners in Falkirk to stop renting and start buying.

The developer says that buying a new home can offer freedom, a sense of achievement and the chance to capitalise on the investment.

According to Redrow, its Lockkeepers Wynd and Optima developments in Falkirk and Edinburgh would be "ideal".

Situated on Etna Road and within easy commuting distance of Glasgow and Edinburgh, Lockkeepers Wynd boasts a range of competitively-priced new homes.

Among the properties for sale is a two-bedroom apartment at £109,995 (correct at time of publication).

This is below the stamp duty threshold and is a sound investment for both first time buyers and downsizers, says Redrow.

"The home is within walking distance of the town centre, as well as offering easy access to the M8 and M9 motorways," said a spokesperson for the developer.

According to Abbey's Rent v Buy Index, buying a home is, on average, £10,500 cheaper than renting over a 25-year period.
