People planning on buying new homes in Wakefield should "look no further" than Chantry Square.

Built by Portford Homes, the development comprises contemporary houses and apartments, with prices starting at £99,950 (correct at time of publication).

According to the housebuilder, there has never been a better time to buy a new property, especially in light of the recent mortgage rate cuts.

David Mackintosh, sales director at Portford Homes, said that many purchasers mistakenly believe that there are no mortgages available at the moment.

"Although lenders have tightened up their criteria there are still a significant number of excellent deals out there, making it possible for you to make that move," he stated.

The latest mortgage provider to cut rates is Yorkshire Building Society, which has announced a new range of two, three, five and ten-year best buy fixed-rate mortgages.

There are also reductions of up to 0.45 per cent from the current range.
