A number of properties aimed at first-time buyers are currently on the market in the Cambridgeshire village of Girton.

The one and two-bedroom apartments, which have been developed by Paradigm Housing, can be purchased using a shared ownership scheme, whereby buyers pay for a percentage of the property while renting the remaining amount.

Allocated parking is provided with the properties - which start from £45,000 under the scheme - with all homes including open plan kitchen and living areas with a variety of appliances.

Lisa Shiell of estate agent Connells, which is selling the homes on behalf of Paradigm, noted that there had been a "huge response" from potential buyers.

"With only seven homes remaining we are advising anyone interested to come and see us now, to avoid the disappointment of missing out on these fantastic properties," she remarked.

A scheme from English Partnerships which provides buyers with 50 per cent of a mortgage for a property has resulted in an increase in sales at Barratt Homes sites across the north Midlands. ADNFCR-1100-ID-18861348-ADNFCR
