A new event for first time-buyers is to be held at a property development in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, it has emerged.

The event - which will take place on Saturday November 15th - is being organised by Weston Homes and local housing association Lea Valley Homes in order to encourage buyers to make their first property purchase.

Selected homes at the site can be purchased using the government's MyChoiceHomeBuy scheme, which allows buyers to receive up to 50 per cent of the value of the property they want to purchase in the form of an equity loan.

The New Mercia development is hosting the event, which has been described as a "very exciting opportunity" for first-time buyers by Lisa Shiell of participating estate agent Connells.

"Experts will be available throughout the day to discuss how MyChoiceHomeBuy works and if you may be eligible for the scheme," she added.

The success of a similar event at Barratt Homes' Old Cider Works development in Taunton has prompted the homebuilder to hold a second Festival of Housing at the site.ADNFCR-1100-ID-18868433-ADNFCR
