A new initiative aimed at helping Yorkshire-based first-time buyers get onto the housing ladder has been announced by Miller Homes.
The developer has revealed that it is to add 75 properties in the region to the Homebuy Direct scheme, which enables buyers to take out an equity loan worth up to 30 per cent of the property's value that is jointly funded by the housebuilder and the government.
Properties at sites in Bradford, Leeds, Gainsborough, Ollerton and Sutton-in-Ashfield are available under the scheme, a move that has been welcomed by national sales and marketing director for Miller Homes Sue Warwick.
"The Homebuy Direct scheme is a great shot in the arm for prospective homebuyers," she explained, adding that those who have previously found it "almost impossible" to purchase a new home due to lack of deposits or tightening mortgage availability will now be in a position to buy a property.
Miller Homes recently moved to cut its prices in Sutton-in-Ashfield, reducing the cost of a new home at Ashtree Park by up to £25,000.
