Buyers are still looking to purchase property in Spain despite the unfavourable conditions caused by the economic downturn, a new study has revealed.
The research, conducted by Andalucian Dream Homes, found that 74 per cent of respondents are still considering buying a home in the country, with 63 per cent of these holding off from making a purchase due to the temporary slump in the value of the pound against the euro.
Group marketing manager for the firm Adam Godwin explained that the company is seeing an increase in the number of buyers enquiring about Costa del Sol property on its website, despite the fact that actual sales in the region are down.
"We advertised throughout the Christmas period and saw a sharp uplift in both visitor numbers and new registrations," he explained, noting that the survey was conducted in order to investigate the "hidden factors" in the current market.
The findings support the conclusions of research conducted last month by Globaledge, which revealed that Spain is the most popular country among English-speaking internet users looking to purchase overseas property.
