Billed as one of the country's most up-and-coming cities, buying a new home in Leeds could prove to be a great investment. There are various offers available from Smart New Homes to make buying property in Leeds even easier and affordable.
Homebuy Direct
Through the Homebuy Direct scheme, property-hunters may find they are able to get their hands on their dream home with just a 70 per cent mortgage. This shared equity scheme is available to those who meet specific criteria, which includes being a first-time buyer and wanting to move out of private or social rented accommodation. Key workers also benefit - namely those who work for organisations such as the NHS - as do those who have a household income of up to £60,000.
Leeds has a few developments with this scheme on offer, including the Locks in Woodlesford. This Barratt Homes development has a range of two and four-bedroom apartments and houses, with prices starting at £97,996.
Another option for those thinking of moving to Leeds with the Homebuy Direct scheme is Echo Central, which is conveniently located close to the city centre. With one and two-bedroom apartments up-for-grabs, people need to move quickly to secure themselves a bargain.
Reduced moving costs
Some properties in Leeds can be bought under the MiWay scheme, which is a means of owning 100 per cent of the property without paying its whole purchase price up front. In order to secure the loan, a second mortgage will be taken out against the property, although it is not a shared ownership scheme.
One such development in Leeds offering this is phase one of Stonebridge Fold, which is in East Ardsley. Its selection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes mean there is going to be something for everyone. Apartments, semi-detached and townhouses are currently on the market and, with easy access to the M1, would be the perfect place from which to commute into Leeds.
The second phase of Central Park in Headingley also has the MiWay scheme on offer, meaning people can take their pick from a selection of one to five-bedroom homes. The area is landscaped, meaning people need not feel they are far from the countryside, while still having the ease of access of the city centre.
