People thinking of selling their home are unlikely to be delayed by putting together a Property Information Questionnaire (PIQ), it is claimed.

The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) says the new compulsory questionnaire will enable people to move into their new home with an improved knowledge of it.

Mike Ockenden, director-general of AHIPP, comments: "The code sets out minimum standards and ensures stringent regulation and redress for all those who obtain their Hips [Home Information Packs] through a registered provider.

These new measures will come into effect on April 6th and will join other compulsory elements of the Hip, including Energy Performance Certificates (or Predicted Energy Assessments) and evidence of title, among other things.

Sustainability information is so far only required for newly-built properties, although the new PIQ will give every home buyer a "great deal of important information", Mr Ockenden states.

Hips will finally be getting into consumers' hands, he adds.ADNFCR-1100-ID-19087386-ADNFCR
