Barratt Homes' HomeBuy Direct initiative has been a runaway success, the developer has claimed.

All of the 26 homes available under the scheme at the property developer's Kennington Park Square development in SE11 have been snapped up by lucky buyers.

However, Barratt has reminded buyers that there are still a number of properties available at the Kennington Road site in London, starting at £265,000.

Alastair Baird, managing director of Barratt London, praised the developer for its "outstanding" track record for delivering affordable London homes.

"We are delighted the government has chosen to work with us to help almost 200 households in London and 3,000 nationwide who have wanted to buy a home but until now have been unable to afford one," he said.

Mr Baird's comments come after developer George Wimpey announced that it would be providing HomeBuy Direct properties on a first come, first served basis as a result of the high demand.ADNFCR-1100-ID-19167646-ADNFCR
