Murcia in Spain is back on the property world stage due to a combination of low prices, better infrastructure and golfing facilities, according to one local estate agent.
Chris Mercer of Mazarron-based Mercers said the average asking price in Murcia of €163,000 (£141,000) is well below the national average of €263,000 (£228,000), while "golfside" properties are going as low as €50,000 (£43,000).
The nearby Paramount-branded theme park, which is due to open in 2014, is also expected to make property investment in Murcia a wise choice as the development brings hundreds of new tourists to the area.
"The region of Murcia is certainly poised in pole position for recovery," Mr Mercer said.
"Price is the driving force that puts Murcia as the top searched for Spanish destination as confirmed by leading property portals."
Recently, the uSwitch Quality of Life Index placed Spain as one of the best places in Europe for living the good life, second only to neighbouring France.
