Spain continues to hold its appeal for British tourists, with Alicante once again making it onto the list of top travel destinations for 2012.
The popular resort climbed five places on the list to claim the top spot this year, according to dealchechecker.co.uk, and for those looking to buy property overseas this accolade makes it a very attractive destination.
Further research from the Post Office sheds light onto this new increase in popularity. The pound is now hovering at around a two-year high on the euro, and local prices have been falling, making living costs even more affordable.
Marc Pritchard, sales and marketing manager of Taylor Wimpey España, explained: "In tough economic times, holiday makers prefer to stick to what they know and the cheaper cost of travel and living in Spain will make the country even more attractive to bargain hunters this year."
Spain also earned itself top spot on the 2012 list of A Place in the Sun's annual Ten Best Places to Buy Abroad.
Editor Liz Rowlinson said in the face of economic uncertainty, buyers are sticking to "tried and tested European countries".
