A record 18.6m homes across the USA were sitting unoccupied in Q2 2008, attributable to the housing slump and rising foreclosure rate, according to the Census Bureau.
The volume of vacant homes in the States is up 6.9% year-on-year, and 2.8% of these vacant properties were non-rentals. The report also reveals that 4m rentals stood empty during the three months in question.
