Prices of property in Lake Como, Italy, are reportedly bucking the downward trend, recording capital growth of 3.7% last month, according to Italy property portal, Immobiliare.it.

Lake Como, situated in Lombardi, Italy, has become a popular second home and holiday destination for the rich and the famous, including a string of Hollywood celebrities, such as movie star, George Clooney.

Amongst the vast array of homes in Lake Como, lies Villa Peduzzi, winner of Silver Homes Overseas Award for ‘Best Development Italy 2008’.

Developer Ultissimo Limited is currently restoring the scheme, which is located on the western shore of Lake Como in an elevated spot on one hectare of land, and seen as the “ultimate property for a Hollywood celebrity or Russian Billionaire”.

Constructed in 1909 by the Peduzzi family who were involved in major engineering projects in Italy, the villa is a classic example of the Liberty style, being adorned with ornate frescos, art nouveau and mosaic tiled floors.

Ultissimo, who will retain the beautiful original features as well as equipping the properties fully to provide the very best comforts for 21st Century living, will sympathetically restore Villa Peduzzi. In addition, anyone purchasing at this early stage has the opportunity to have a real creative input into the restoration and specification of their apartment.

With the availability of moorings on the lake, owners have the opportunity to have a boat available whenever they need it for outings to beautiful villages around the lake and the many fine restaurants that are found on the shores of Lake Como.

The project will also offer an infinity pool with truly amazing views plus an all-weather tennis court set in the spacious grounds.

Paul Belcher, managing director, Ultissimo, says: “Villa Peduzzi is truly a grand residence. Untouched since the Second World War, its frescos, mosaics and architecture offer a revealing glimpse into early 20th Century Italian élan. “Not only that but, unusually, the property sits in one hectare of land, affording it even more seclusion and giving it unrivalled views over the lake.”

Property prices currently range from £1.2m to £1.74m, depending on specification, or as a whole for £7.4m including the opportunity for significant additional accommodation in the grounds.
