Retirees 'happiest living in the country'

Retirees who live in rural areas are happier than their urban counterparts, a study has found.

Released by Saga, the poll shows that the south-west is the best place to retire, with 25 per cent of those questioned saying they would consider Devon, Dorset or Cornwall.

She said that the current economic climate could impact where people choose to live, despite what a location has to offer.

Of those questioned, 92 per cent of retirees in Dorset said they would recommend the county to others, while 85 per cent suggested they are happy with the community in which they live.
