Bafra is situated close to the shores of the south facing side of the Karpaz Peninsula; there are many lonely sandy beaches all along the coastline from the tip of the "panhandle" to the north going down to Famagusta in the south.
The old village of Bafra has been identified as a major tourism area and is currently being developed with around 14 high class hotels like the $40 million five star Kaya Artemis complex and associated restaurants, shops, casinos and swimming pools.
The area is also supported by the construction of one of the largest Yacht Marinas in the Mediterranean. This 300 berth development project is only 20 minutes drive away and due for completion within the next 2 years.
Bafra is within an hour's drive of Ercan airport and the major towns of Famagusta and Nicosia. Nearby is the beautiful, sleepy fishing village of Bogaz offering several good fish restaurants and tavernas from which to choose.
