Land of colours and contrasts. One of Europe’s warmest areas.
The Murcia Region is a privileged area - a perfect example of the Mediterranean quality of life. Its gentle, warm temperatures reach an average of between 20°C and 22°C and its low rainfall makes this an oasis of feeling good, all year round.
These climatic conditions give Murcia a different colour, filling it with life and vitality, a region where Spring seems eternal. Here, you and your family and friends can enjoy over 300 days of sunshine a year. Day after day of clear blue skies and sunshine bestow the Murcia Region with a spectacular, warm Mediterranean light that is so characteristic of this part of Spain.
The Coast
The Murcia Region is an encounter between two seas. Excellent soft sandy beaches, pure, clean water and spectacular sunsets.
As a natural geographic accident, there is the astonishing La Manga area, a coastal strip of land of 170 square km that closes off the Mar Menor lake and separates it from the Mediterranean Sea, so that the two are only communicated by channels or small streams. The Mar Menor has incredibly warm waters that since time immemorial have been renowned for their benefits to health. There are also natural ecological delights here like the Sand Dunes at San Pedro del Pinatar or the natural parkland and beaches of Calblanque.
Sports Activities in the Region
The Murcia Region invites you to get in touch with Nature, where land and sea meet to present you with a myriad of sports activities.
For lovers of nautical sports, the Mar Menor is simply one of the best places in the world for sailing, canoeing, swimming, water-skiing and any type of water sports, in its numerous clubs, marinas and water sports schools. For those of you keener on mountain sports, you will find canoe descents, pot-holing and underground caving, climbing, hiking, cycling and horseback tours. To relax after a great day out in the open air, what could possibly beat the heat of the fireplace, or outside in the Summer, preparing a tasty barbecue in the moor style stoves of the rural houses?
Mountains
Two natural parks, reservoirs and rivers make the Murcia Region an unspoilt area and such a great place to visit. Inland, within the Murcia Region, there is a huge wealth of natural reserves and unspoilt landscapes. Places you might dream of, ideal for those who love peace and quiet in pure nature and fresh air, but also a great place to visit for people who prefer a more active kind of holidays, with lots of adventure and sports activities. For nature lovers, this area offers you just the activity to suit your tastes: from hiking or horseback trails to mountain climbing. In the Natural Parks of Sierra Espuna and El Valle, you’ll find both active adventure and quite.
